On Tuesday, November 3, 2015, voters will be asked to vote on a special 27 cent levy to provide funding for the Cedar Rapids Public Library.
The Library Board of Trustees determined that the library needed to find a sustainable source of funding to maintain service at current levels. While the demand for library services has historically been strong, the funding support has not kept pace. In recent years, the Cedar Rapids Public Library Foundation and the City bridged this funding until this levy proposition could be brought to the public. The library does not have the resources available to continue operating at the same levels of service moving into the future.
Beginning July 1, 2016, shall an annual library levy of 27 cents per one-thousand dollars of assessed property value be authorized to support the Cedar Rapids Public Library?
