Construction continues on the new downtown library project. In the month since our Groundbreaking Celebration the building has been starting to take shape. Steel has been erected and the first floor slab has been poured. The structure that will create the iconic ellipse is in place, giving a sense for scale. The building covers the entire block, facing Greene Square, and will have parking on the south side.
The building is elevated approximately two feet above the 2008 flood height (this site had only 18 inches of water) to protect from future flooding. There will be a four foot incline from the sidewalk on the street to the building entrance.
